Children of the Light

 In Art & Design

An Amsterdam duo that have been at the forefront of creating engrossing club atmospheres over the past few years, Children of the Light are lighting designers par excellence.

They describe their installations as “live scenography”: creating a mood, forming a visual representation of the music their work is showcased alongside.

Currently based at De School, formerly having worked at Trouw, they’re regular collaborators with Chilean-American producer Nicolas Jaar (and his previous side project Darkside).

Skandl caught their last exhibition, ‘Light as Matter’, at De Pijp’s Galerie Gabriel Rolt. Comprising of a rotating circle (a ‘warping halo’, as they put it), whose changing colours blended with fog from a smoke machine, combined with ambient music courtesy of Huerco S., Children of Light produced the religious/spiritual feeling hinted at in their name.
